No two journeys are the same when it comes to your oral healthcare strategy. There seem to be three distinct types of dental patients, and Fairbanks dentists are here to help them all.
Some dental patients dread the thought of an unexpected dental problem, and so they are sticklers for preventive dental care and tend to heed the dentist’s recommendations as soon as possible.
Other dental patients tend to walk on the wild side by waiting to take action unless an absolute catastrophe occurs.
Still, there are lots of dental patients who fall somewhere in the middle of the curve, doing what they can when they can, and sometimes rolling the dice by waiting a little longer before getting the recommended treatments.
Of course, dental problems will become progressively worse if they aren’t treated early, but it’s never too late to do something. Here are some common dental treatment options for each stage of your dental journey:
- Preventive Care: This includes routine cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and bite guards.
- Basic Restorative Care: This includes small fillings and composite bonding.
- Major Restorative Care: This includes dental crowns, veneers, root canal treatments, oral surgery, and gum disease treatments.
- Tooth Replacement: The last resort, when a natural tooth can no longer be fixed or saved, is to have it extracted and replaced with dental implants, dental bridges, or dentures.
As you can see, the steps to correct a dental issue can become more complex and more financially demanding when you roll the dice or wait too long to seek dental care. But of course, dental problems can sometimes seem to come out of nowhere, with no warning, rhyme or reason. Also, our personal circumstances can often prevent us from moving forward with the necessary treatment as soon as we’d like. Remember that the dentist takes these factors into consideration and is only here to help you, no matter which treatment is needed or how long you may have waited to call.
